additional supplement to the call for tender scholarship "writer of the city"
The apartment of the "writer of the city" is located the Cerrini-Schlößchen, the International Writer´s House Graz, at the Schloßberg in the centre of Graz, the capital of the Federal State of Styria.
The whole Schloßberg area is subject to nature as well as monumental conservancy protection, therefore certain structural conditions have to be accepted:
The building, and consequently all the apartments, can only be reached by foot. As is the case with most parts of the Schloßberg, the building is also not barrier-free and therefore cannot be reached with wheelchairs. Furthermore, there is no possibility to reach the building by car and there is no parking-space available. All guests have to carry their daily consumer needs to the apartments by themselves.
The Cerrini-Schlößchen offers two other rooms for scholarship-guests, the apartment of the "writer of the city" being the biggest individual unit. This so called two rooms/kitchen-apartment is destined for the use of two persons, which means that the whole infrastructure of the apartment, such as the hot water supply, is set up for that purpose.
Because of the building´s position on the Schloßberg, bringing pets is not welcome. Due to Austrian registration law visiting of members of family, relatives or guests staying longer than three days must be notified to the City of Graz-Cultural Department or the Kulturvermittlung Steiermark.
The apartment is ready-furnished, the kitchen is fully equipped. TV, radio and free internet access are also available.
As our experience has shown, it may be of help to our guests to use the Kulturvermittlung Steiermark office address (Wielandgasse 9/1, 8010 Graz) for important or valuable personal mail. This mail can be collected by the guests during office hours (Monday through Thursday: 9 am to 3 pm, Friday: 9am to 1 pm).
